Ambition stands apart from the rest of the series it is a part of, as well as many of my other prior works, both in style and attitude. What you see is a punk-styled character based on a frilled lizard, with grey and purple scales and a stripe of neon green hair. Her frill is instead painted as an intense chaotic red flame rising around her face. Overall, it is sharp and edged, with a bold graphic quality.
Frilled lizards are renowned for their proud and often aggressive displays. When threatened they flare their frills to appear larger and more dangerous than they are. This is what transforms into an emblem of ambition in this work. Her refusal to be small, and the choice made to meet the world head on, impossible to ignore. Ambition is easily imagined as a bright fire, that burns bright and loud as it consumes and spreads itself. Wild, hungry. The raised claws carry that mixed interplay of threat and play forward, as if she was just performing her own ferocity, yet meaning it all the same.
In the framing of the series Beasts and Omens, it repents quite a different and unique type of omen.
