Spinning in her dance, the Geisha’s arms reach out like a windmill’s wings. The transparent sweep of her kimono follows the motion, revealing vibrant patterns beneath. Columns of color inspired in style by Gustav Klimt, with their twisting and bending lines, dotted by colorful, chaotic, yet still somehow consistent circles. Towards the left the structure of these playful forms shift into softer, cloud-like shapes, while to the right, simple flowers drawn with a kind of child-like directness grow within the gold.
Her eyes are closed in deep focus, her face composed and meditative. In her world, every movement is shaped by years of training, not only in dance, but in the broader arts of refined expression: music, conversation, presence. A life of practiced grace, but not without complexity. In this painting the colors hint at something beyond that surface control. They describe a vivid internal world full of creativity, memory, and perhaps a kind of private joy.
This painting plays with that contrast - the stillness of tradition and the swirling inner life it can shelter. I wanted to explore that space, where performance becomes something both shared and personal.
