Leaping from within the image, as if jumping out of a portal, a ball of fury comes into view. Its face wild, eyes sharp with orange and yellow ferocity, caught in a half-snarl that suggests both motion and intent. The fox’s body dissolves into a swirling ribbon of calligraphic ink and orange gouache, wrapping the frame in spiral. Not quite a completed circle, a wash orange completes the untamed tail’s arc.
Within the swirling vortex lies the Uzumaki. It symbolizes cycles of energy, change and motion and captures a sense of both chaos and mystery. This spiral form, suggesting an otherworldly passage, reflects the fox’s nature as a shape-shifting creature caught between worlds. Uzumaki Kitsune marks my decision to continue deeper into this wild, but symbolic style in the future and to further explore where form dissolves and meaning takes shape in the motion of ink.
